A Forest is a Zero-Waste Model.
Forest is a complex system with multitude of elements and interactions just like a city. And yet it functions without creating waste.
Because all the systems are circular.
An output from a process serves as an input to some other process.
Leaves decompose, nutrients from the leaves go back to the soil and are available for the tree again.
Materials in the nest go back to the soil without creating any waste.
Circularity is the key.
Circularity means the material should decompose and go back to the soil or it should be infinitely recyclable to achieve zero-waste goal.
We all are POLICY MAKERS
A city with lacs of people is a series of establishments like schools, colleges, institutions, corporate offices, housing societies, restaurants etc. Every person is part of one or more establishments. Every establishment has a policy maker. We collaborate with the policy maker to make the establishment zero-waste to ultimately create a ZERO-WASTE CITY.
GOAL: ZERO-WASTE - What & How
Zero-waste means reducing waste and reusing, redistributing, and recycling what cannot be avoided. With each establishment becoming zero-waste, we ultimately have a Zero-Waste city

We know the Problem
Quantity of waste is directly proportional to population. As the population grows, so does the waste. However there is a limit on the space and resources and hence on our ability to MANAGE THE WASTE.
Is this Waste Management?
Certainly not!!
Garbage by roadside, in the river and river bed is the indicator that we are not able to manage the waste we create.
We need to focus on reducing the waste.
